Donwan Harrell at The Chrysler Nationals
Posted on August 13 2015
PRPS Designer Donwan Harrell prides himself on being a purist. He loves things that are American made
within a specific time zone. Most notably, Chrysler Plymouths built between 1962 and 1971, known as Muscle
Cars with their powerful 426 Hemi and 440 Six Pack powerplants.
Cars play such a major part in Donwan's lifestyle that he named each PRPS fit using the names of Plymouths
from this classic time period.
Donwan recently participated in The Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the biggest muscle car
event on the east coast. In fact, he did better than participate. He COMPETED and WON the celebrity choice
award for his classic entry!
The Carlisle Chrysler Nationals are always one of the largest shows. The event yielded a record turnout of over
2,500 cars registered, breaking the previous record, set just last year.
The combination of perfect weather all weekend, special guests and some pretty significant vehicle displays all
contributed to making this another amazing show.
Hot draws were speed based. Autocross with Hotchkis, the Petty’s Garage Burnout Contest and the Dodge
Rocks Tour, complete with Hellcat thrill rides, wowed thousands, plus decades of Mopar history was on
display. Special guest, Tom Wopat from the Dukes of Hazzard came to Carlisle, Wopat, also known as Luke
Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard, signed autographs FridaySunday
within Building T beside a filmaccurate
General Lee Charger.
From special ceremonies honoring the Collector Car hobby to a unique Dream Car giveaway unveiling, the
weekend had everything a car lover could want.
For those of you who want to personally experience what so deeply inspires Donwan Harrell, Save the date, it
all happens again July 15-17, 2016.
